The RAFAEL Association traces its roots back to the Biblical religious community “RAFAEL,” which in 1990 became the first officially registered Protestant Evangelical church in Sarajevo during the communist period in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was founded by Robert and Sandrina Jurjević, who began pioneering work in the 1980s in the areas of spiritual renewal, social assistance, and united prayer—often under very challenging circumstances.
Although the church’s activities were interrupted by the outbreak of war in 1992, the vision of service and support was never extinguished. Upon returning to Sarajevo in 2013, the founders continued this mission through the newly formed "RAFAEL" Association, which was officially registered on October 9, 2015.
Today, the RAFAEL Association serves as a platform for education, spiritual support, humanitarian work, and community connection. Our mission is to serve people in Bosnia and Herzegovina — body, soul, and spirit — through programs aimed at all generations: from children's workshops and counseling services to entrepreneurship courses, activities for teenagers, and support for the elderly.
In everything we do, we are guided by biblical principles of love, hope, and renewal. Regardless of religious, ethnic, or social background, we strive to be a bridge between need and hope, between the individual and the community.
